Shooting a spring gobbler in the head with an arrow sounds impossible since the target is so small and turkey heads are rarely still.

Aside from entertaining, this video is very informative, especially if you aspire to bag a big tom with a bow. Notice the hunter’s arrow is tipped with a “lopper” style head, which contains very large blades designed to cut the bird’s spinal cord. Be aware that these large specialty heads will usually bounce off of the wing butt should you change aiming point.

This archer allows the gobbler to turn toward him so there is no interference, and he aims high on the neck. Best of all, the turkey dies instantly.
