Searching for shed antlers, called shed hunting, is the perfect excuse to get afield in early spring to look for the crowning glory of last year’s bucks.

Finding a large shed antler is a good indication that an even bigger rack will be developing nearby, unless predators or a car strike intervenes.

If you’re a turkey hunter, searching for sheds will tip you to the latest turkey activities, such as roosting trees and feeding spots. Serious shed hunters use dogs to assist them and have trained their favorite canine to locate and retrieve those precious pieces of bone.
