Pennsylvania is not known for their big bears, but that could change.

With a very short season, without the aid of bait or dogs, success does not come easy for Pennsylvania bear hunters. That being said, some big bears do fall, but nothing has ever been seen like this bear.

David Price harvested the 17-year-old black bear with a live weight of 879 lbs. and field-dressed 744 lbs.

Since 1992, six bears have been killed in Pennsylvania weighing more than 800 lbs.
