Bears are significant predators of whitetail deer. Studies in Pennsylvania have found that bears are a major predator of fawns at a time when the young rely on camouflage to disguise their stationary position in the deer woods.

Although large bears may seem slow and lumbering in their gate, bear have tremendous speed for short spurts and even a full-grown deer may not escape. This video shows the graphic results.
