Rage Broadheads Introduces New 3-Blade Design

Over the past decades, few broadheads have produced the kind of buzz as the Rage two-blade design. It flies well and can produce devastating hemorrhage on big-game animals, yet many hunters want the symmetry and larger cutting area of a three-blade design. Now, Rage steps up to the plate with a new design that should satisfy most enthusiasts. Here are the details from the manufacturer:

60050005What started several years ago as a back-room redesign of a wildly successful product has culminated into the release of the new ground-breaking and game-taking Rage 3-Blade Broadhead with KORE Technology. The extremely accurate futuristic ferrule of the patent-pending Rage 3-Blade deploys its razor-sharp 1.08-inch-long blades instantly upon contact to produce cuts in six directions for a gigantic 1.6-inch-diameter star-like hole with more than three inches of total cutting area.

Several states have banned mechanical three-blade broadhead designs because their blades can create a “barbed” configuration from binding against each other during extraction. Rage initiated a redesign of its original 3-Blade to overcome any potential for binding.

Rage engineers recognized that separating and orienting the blades away from the center of the ferrule would prevent any possibility of binding against one another. They created a unique skeletal design with a precision-ground solid steel ferrule that utilized the patented and proven Slip-Cam blade deployment system. This new KORE design absolutely eliminated interference between the stainless-steel blades, but Rage engineers never anticipated the accuracy and on-game devastation that their new design could produce.

60050006The slim 3/4-inch in-flight profile of the new Rage 3-Blade proved itself field-point accurate, but its penetration and internal destruction has been unprecedented in both gelatin and field tests. The new Rage 3-Blade not only penetrates further than the original, it tends to “core” the target because of the single-bevel leading edges of the ferrule.

Each blade of the new broadhead is .035-inches thick—.005 of an inch thicker than the original—to greatly increase durability. The new 3-Blade also employs a polymer KORE Shock Collar, which retains the blades much more reliably than O-rings until the moment of impact.

The new 100-gr. Rage 3-Blade with KORE Technology is now available from Rage Outdoors Authorized Dealers nationwide in a three-pack with a practice head and three replacement KORE Shock Collar blade-retention devices. The MSRP is $49.99.
