A shooting range used to be a pile of dirt and a bench rest. But now, with operators facing a host of liabilities and regulations, hunters and marksmen alike have noticed a decrease in the number of places at which a person can shoot or learn to shoot a firearm. For gun enthusiasts, finding a shooting range in a new city or town can be difficult. This is especially important if you fly your rifle for a big-game hunting trip and want to check zero before heading to camp. Fortunately, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has made finding a nearby shooting range as easy as locating a restaurant or gas station by developing a free application. It’s not only handy in out-of-town situations, but you’ll also be informed of shooting opportunities near home that you may not have even known existed. Here’s the information from their website:
The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®) has released an all-new Where To Shoot mobile app — available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices — that locates shooting ranges near you. Available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play, Where To Shoot puts North America’s most comprehensive directory of shooting ranges in the palm of your hand. It also includes video tips for shooters, news and firearm safety information.
Users can search by current location or zip code and find specifics about each range, including shooting activities offered, accessibility and contact information. The app also makes it easy to get directions to the range.
